Kankanala BACKDROP Intellectual Property (IP), typically, refers to intangibles that are protected by certain established legal rights and includes patents, copyrights, trademarks, design rights, plant variety rights, etc. IP confers a right over the creation or invention and excludes others from exploiting the same. It may involve substantial investment during the research, development and updation phase and hence, having the IP in a right environment (encompassing commercial, economic and political) is essential.
