HEIGHT OF INSENSITIVITY (AND ARROGANCE) The Prime Minister rejigged his cabinet a couple of weeks ago, overhauling his team of lieutenants to govern the country. If the media is to be believed, the move was in terms with the result of the ‘examination’ conducted by the PMO to test efficiency or otherwise of various lieutenants [ministers] and paved the way to remove 'inefficient' candidates while introducing Young Turks. The examination results showed the failure of many existing ministers, including heavyweights, who had to accept the result and gracefully bow out. While the parameters to judge ‘efficiency’ are not known, a surprise passing out was of a repeat candidate, who was in charge of finance, among other portfolios. In fact, the passing out appears to be so much with the flying colors that the said ministry has been rewarded by being asked to look after more portfolios/departments.
